Havant’ quite got enough

We started off the afternoon match on the water-logged pitch with a fabulous team press resulting in a short corner.  Kate Managed to score off the rebound and Waterside were 1-0 up.  Waterside had great team work but Havant managed to break and evened the score to 1-1.  With some great team passes Joey did a fantastic run, outplaying multiple Havant players to pass to Daisy who, with terrific skills managed to find the back of the goal and again Waterside were in the lead.  Waterside did some great defending and attacking, with Esther, Dudley, Emma, Coolio and Kate putting lots of leg work in.  Kate and Dudley were always looking to offer the pass and managed to transfer the ball up the pitch but with a quick break from the Havant team, they equalised and the whistle then went for half time.   We waved goodbye to Esther as she went to work and Tabby had her debut start.

As the sky began to darken, despite some superb interception tackles by Gaynor, Cherry and Nat Havant managed to squeeze one into the goal, despite multiple sterling saves by Tina.  Gaynor and Nat did some excellent marking and Cherry but some fantastic tackles in and with the support from the shields including the invaluable Coolio who had stepped back from her usual midfield position, and midfield, looked strong, however, Havant managed to get another passed the team and the score was 4-2 to Havant.    The midfield including Emma and Joey Waterside managed to send the ball forward.  Tabby, on her debut took a brilliant shot towards goal and defeated the goalie to take the score to 4-3.

The final whistle blew and Waterside team ended the game, having played excellently, being supported by motivational sideline captain who did sterling substitutions and gave vital advice.  She worked well with match captain Kate, and together they provided encouraging support to the team.

At the end of the game, as a representation of how well the team played together there were many nominations for POM, Tubby, Joey, Cherry, Dudley & Emma. However I came out of top, I think there was a mistake there but thank you.

Thanks to Becca for her fabulous support and hope she comes back to playing soon, congratulations to Tubby on her debut and Kate for her excellent on pitch captain skills.

Over and Out Doc.
