In appalling, inhumane conditions, worse than a Thai prison, the Watersiders took to the pitch. 

The first half was a bit flat but we swiftly took the lead and it ended 4-0. Tina made some excellent saves and Alex could have had a hat-trick but selflessly gifted goals to both Kate and Becca.

Little did she know there was more drama to come. 

With renewed vigour and mild hypothermia we led the charge into the second half. 

Racking up a further 3 goals it was looking set for another with 1 minute to go. Then out of nowhere Alex was shoved to the floor by the IOW captain. Accompanied by an unwarranted torrent of abuse that no lady should have to hear, she was separated and we rushed to Alex’s side whilst she flailed around on the floor like an upturned turtle……with cramp. 

After advice from waterside, the umpires gave a yellow card and the IOW captain was sent off. 

The game played out with the stunned participants soldiering on.  

A valiant effort in near arctic conditions sees us retain the lead at the top of div 4.
