Rough and tumble – Waterside Victorious

Another bright and sunny morning saw Waterside gather at Gosport ready to face, you guessed it, Gosport. Dudley eventually turned up only slightly worse for wear 30 mins late but then we were ready to rumble, with two super subs rotating in this week.

The first half saw two (or was it three) goals from Waterside, a great combination of teamwork from Marie, Joey and Becca up front. At points throughout the game it did feel more like rugby than hockey, with trips, falls and collisions all over the pitch (and not all of them from Marie!).

Part way through Joey received a green card (not entirely sure why) but we didn’t let that slow us down. Half time came and went with marshmallows and a good pep talk from Coolio and Becca as we were missing Lynda and her laminates!

We started back with vengeance, some more people probably fell over…. 13 minutes from the end a brutal collision between Marie and a Gosport player saw both in a pretty bad way but the game then continued.

Two more goals were scored by waterside in the second half but Gossport managed to just sneak one past our defence. The final score was 4-1 to Waterside. A fantastic result after a pretty testing match. Special mention to Kate, POM, who found fantastic space throughout the game and was a very well deserved winner.
