Saturday’s home game saw the first win of the season for Waterside Ladies against Romsey so well done ladies! (6-1).
The game got off to a very quick start with a fantastic run from Stuart Little and Jude resulting in the first goal, probably within the first minute. There was lovely use of the width of the pitch throughout the game particularly from Alex and Gaynor.
Romsey made a lucky break though our defence to score their one and only goal of the match.
Jude got her second goal after the ball had rebounded of the post and probably countless sticks and feet but never the less it was another goal to Waterside!
Things began to get a little bit complicated before half time when it became apparent our up-front and Romsey’s defence were both called Marie and Jude (& Judie) so thank goodness for names like Stuart Little!!
Before halftime there was time for two more goals, one resulting from some lovely play between Stuart Little and Becca and a goal from Alex.
The second half saw some lovely foot-work from Becca, Steve’s ladders have clearly been paying off and some adventurous goal running from Tina, clearly testing out the her winning kickers!
The remainder of the second half saw two more goals, a successful set-up from Katie to Stuart Little and a short corner resulting in a goal from Becca.
All in all, I’m sure everyone would say it was a really good game and a well deserved win. It was good to see Alex back on the pitch after all her marathon running and Jude return to Waterside to be one of the matches top goal scorers. POM was a tie between Kelly, Jude and Coolio this week, well done ladies!!
